A blog on the internet

Hello,

Today is the record release date for the new Spook Houses record. Its a crazy feeling that over a year of work has gone into this record. A year of work and development of a great band. I originally blew off Spook Houses. They sent me the 7” and I didn’t like it. There was a lot of weird stuff going on when they sent me the 7”. As a young label it is sometimes hard to figure out where you want to go. I was having trouble figuring out where I wanted to go.

A few weeks later the guys were on tour and for some reason I decided to give the record another shot. I fell in love with it. I don’t know why I didn’t at first but that night I loved it. I still love it. I listen to the Home 7” a lot. I emailed them on the third or fourth listen in a row asking if we could meet up when they got back. We met up when they got back. We talked for awhile. I took them to a comic shop and a crappy diner in North Philadelphia by our old studio/warehouse. Colin got a bloody nose. There was a lot of blood.

We decided that we were going to put a record out in 2012 in July of 2011. It took us 13 months. I’m happy to have it out. 13 months is a long time and a lot of planning. I wanted them to be happy with what they were releasing. I wanted to be happy with what I was releasing. Its a very special record. I love it.

Today is the Spook Houses record release and I hope you like. I hope they like it.
